Mr. Spy’s 3rd Grade girls were so very excited to
see Lauren again and to participate in meaningful community service. Lauren did a great job outlining what it
means to be part of a community and the responsibilities community members have
to each other. Before Lauren’s visit, the girls had already decided they wanted
to give back to our school community they by purchasing a planter and filling
it with beautiful flowers to brighten up everyone’s day. They we so eager to plant their flowers and hung
their “3rd Grade Girls” sign proudly on the planter. Every
time they walk by their planter they are reminded that their efforts helped
make the school yard more cheerful for everyone.
To culminate our experience, the girls reflected on what it
means to show compassion for themselves, to community members and to the environment we share. We compiled a list of different ways in which
we could accomplish this, which included picking up litter and recycling. They challenged
each other to do at least one thing each week that can benefit another
community member. Great job College Champions!
