The
6th grade boys had a great month working on Fair Play. We started off the month watching
Matt’s
video as inspiration and really got the ball rolling from there. We started off analyzing different examples
of fair play in sports, school, and other parts of our lives. One case that really caught the boy’s
attention because of their love of football was “deflate gate.”
After we started diving into
different real life examples I had to go and spend some time playing as the
steady QB at recess to get a real sense of our understanding of fair play. We had a lot of fun playing football, but
showed me we had a lot to work on.
The boys created comic strips
outlining a sketch showing fair play or unfair play. They had a lot of fun writing and drawing
scenarios involving fair play. They
shared these comics with the class and then we decided as a group which one we
would start to plan and act out. The
skit that the students chose involved a football game and a questionable coin
flip where one of the players swapped out the coin for a double-sided coin. Thanks for an awesome month of Fair Play!
